Of course the real reason behind why we’re chatting today is to address Glynn-Carney’s highly speculated involvement in the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon. As time progresses and the interview ticks on, it becomes somewhat of an elephant in the room. “So,” I approach with hesitation. “The word on the street is that you’re in House of the Dragon?” The actor’s mouth parts to reveal a boyish grin. “For the record I have no idea what you’re talking about!” he laughs. For months Reddit and the Internet at large have heralded the actor as being part of the HBO series, with many predictions suggesting that he will play a member of the Targaryen clan. The actor is reluctant to give too much away but he does share insight into the next character he’s set to play on-screen. “It’s definitely one of the darker roles I’ve played. It’s a very, very complex character. One minute we love him, then the next we hate him, but I’m really enjoying that sort of back and forth aspect of the role. It’s a tricky thing to play, but it’s rewarding in so many ways.” Perhaps this gives some insight into his rumoured role, or perhaps it unravels the story behind other one of his upcoming projects.
